Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Poole, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with possible extra fees for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for a minimum duration as outlined in the Rental Agreement. Identification and proof of current address must be provided, along with valid payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria specified in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Poole office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally expected upon vehicle pick-up. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and encompass VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, using secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged appropriately. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as it was provided; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us if you expect to return the vehicle later than scheduled. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. For comprehensive details regarding coverage and excess amounts, please refer to your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability. It is wise to consider these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any hazardous driving. Transporting dangerous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes and must not exceed passenger or weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the specified geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Poole will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our overall liability for any claims will be capped at the rental amount you have paid over the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
